Oxford University has produced, after 45 years a dictionary that contains every word used in the english lanuage. The BBC did a article on the oddest ones there and i thought it was rather good, heres some of them ;

caterwaul (n.or v.) – a screeching like cats
agelast (n.) – someone who never laughs
agroof (n.) - flat on one's face (Scottish)
sneckdraw (n.) - a sly person
bibble (v.) - to drink or eat noisily
Jollox (n.) - a fat person


On a side note,pineapples are called pineapples beacause the british believed them to resemble pinecones. And news comes from the first letter of north east west and south put togethr.

* In King Alfred's day a stupid person would have been a medwis, modigleas, samwis, ungerad, stuntlic or a sort.

* In William Shakespeare's day they could have been said to be "dumb as a beetle"; dumpish; dorbellical; grout-headed, or a stunned mullet.

* In Jane Austen's day, numskulled; born-muzzy; ram-headed or chuckleheaded.

* In Queen Victoria's day: like a bump on a log; dolly; dunch; crass; lean-minded; and even "stoopid".
